Wallwork Heat Treatment at Advanced Engineering 2022, Stand N152

Wallwork returns to Advanced Engineering on Stand N152. The company is featuring hard coatings, heat treatments such as plasma nitriding and vacuum brazing. The stand is in the Aerospace zone where there will be great interest in the advantages that the company's thermal processes bring to improving wear resistance, lowering coefficients of friction and other surface condition improvements that contribute to reducing fuel consumption.

Using PVD coatings on metal components and cutting tools is increasingly popular and necessary, as these items are required to perform tasks that are beyond the capabilities of the base metal. They also enable component manufacturers to use lighter metals to reduce overall weight and therefore further improve fuel efficiency.

This is where Physical Vapour Deposited (PVD) coatings are particularly useful. Their hardness is typically 3-4 times harder than heat treated steel, and because the coating follows the component geometry exactly and is only 1 to 4 microns thick, often no tolerance change is necessary.

The Wallwork Group employs around 300 people. Sites are open 24 hours per day, seven days per week and our fleet of commercial vehicles provides a fast and reliable transport service nationally.

This year Wallwork has invested extensively in new equipment and training to offer a high quality, competitive service to the aerospace, motorsport and medical industries. New vacuum furnaces, new plasma nitriding facilities and investment in maintaining our extensive Nadcap accreditations and aerospace prime approvals, ensures that we have the right equipment, people, skills, and standards in place to support customer thermal processing and hard coating requirements.
